Kiss Club 2024

February 16, 2024

The ever popular KISS club returns in 2024 with Propel Youth Arts WA’s Youth Week WA KickstART Festival, in partnership with pvi collective and Midland Junction Arts Centre.

KISS club is a showcase of works in progress by emerging and established artists from various live and experimental arts disciplines. It was founded by Sydney artist Karen Therese and has been run by pvi collective, a tactical media group, since 2010. From 2017 to 2020, KISS club was delivered in partnership with PICA, and in 2022, it became a platform exclusive to emerging artists with the inaugural KickstART Edition.

For 2024, KISS club will continue as a collaboration between Propel Youth Arts WA, Midland Junction Arts Centre, and pvi collective. As such, applications are open only to artists aged between 18 and 26. Please also note that KISS club is an all ages event and presented ideas in progress should be suitable for audiences 15 years and over.

Selected Propel artists will participate in a 3 day KISS club lab and present 10 minutes of a work in progress to an audience, providing a chance to trial new ideas and receive feedback in a generous and supportive environment. KISS club celebrates work in progress, giving audiences a fresh insight into what is bubbling in the hearts and minds of Perth’s experimental performance makers, and the opportunity to help shape and support new work.

Picture this: five artists, ten minutes each, and a world of experimentation. KISS club is a performance event for ideas in development, featuring emerging and established artists across live and experimental arts practice. It is an opportunity to trial a performative experiment that requires an audience to test it.

Witness the birth of new ideas and gain fresh insight into what is bubbling in the hearts and minds of Perth’s experimental performance makers, and the opportunity to help shape and support new work.

This free event is presented as part of the Youth Week WA KickstART Festival, presented by Propel Youth Arts WA. KickstART is supported by the Government of Western Australia through the Department of Communities and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, and the City of Perth.
