Photograph Your Art with Bo Wong

Join Photographer, Bo Wong for an online illustrated lecture on how best to photograph artworks for grants, websites, exhibition applications and social media. A downloadable resource will be available for participants with information on best practice for lighting, composition and setting up for photos at home.

Bo Wong is a highly regarded photographer who shoots for numerous individual artists and arts organisations including the Art Gallery of Western Australia and Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts. Bo regularly presents workshops for emerging and mid-career artists and arts organisations and has taught Photomedia as a sessional lecturer at Edith Cowan University. She co-hosts Soul Traders Podcast, which was born from common questions from workshop participants about creative freelancing and the arts industry.

This online illustrated lecture will be hosted via Zoom Webinar. Students will need a computer or smartphone with an internet connection to participate. Please contact our Education Program Manager Ellen edpm@mundaringartscentre.com.au if you have any queries about the Zoom platform.

Grab your camera and join artist Duncan Wright for a photography field trip at the Midland Railway Workshops. Meet at the Midland Junction Arts Centre, where after a short illustrated lecture, the group will wander over to the historic Midland Railway Workshops with Duncan setting tips and challenges to help you photograph the built environment. No matter the type of camera you’re using, Duncan will show you how to prepare for and capture a great image. With plenty of opportunity for one-on-one guidance, he can help with any special technical questions you may have.

Intro to Analog Photography with John Toohey

Learn to use an analog camera in this three hour introductory workshop with John Toohey. Bring along your own camera with a roll of film and John will walk you through the fundamentals of film format photography. You’ll learn to utilise manual settings such as ISO, exposure and light meters, as well as the properties of different films and where to get them developed. Turn the faults of old cameras to your advantage as you transform everyday scenes into beautiful images. 

John Toohey has been working with film for more than thirty years and his photographs are held in many major Australian collections. He has a special interest in Box Brownies and toy cameras.

Join photographer, Bo Wong in a Masterclass in photographing your own artworks with your own camera gear or phone. Spend time with Bo talking through your unique challenges and gaining valuable advice, tips and tricks for creating the perfect photography set up at home. Bring your own artwork in and you can take home useable images of your artwork for awards, grants and social media. Morning tea and lunch will be provided. This workshop is limited to just eight participants, be quick to secure your spot.
