Get creative and get to know Midland Junction Arts Centre (MJAC) with fun and interactive arts activities for all ages. Local artists welcome you into MJAC’s studios as we celebrate three new exhibitions and present ‘Land for Wildlife’ talks and displays.
WHAT’S ON
EXHIBITIONS
Experience two new exhibitions, Revisiting The Mughal Gardens by Sultana Shamshi and Djoowak Moordidjabiny curated by Candice Nannup and featuring Dawn Alone, Amanda Bell, Sharyn Egan, Lily-Mae Kerley, Janine McAullay Bott, Laurel Nannup, Emily Rose and Beverly Thomson. Open from 11am - 3pm.
ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE | CLIVE RYDER
Visit Studio 1 between 12.30 - 2.30pm to see Western Australia’s colours and landscapes brought to life in paintings by Noongar Yued Ballardong artist, Clive Ryder.
ENVIRONMENTAL ART PROJECT CEREMONY
View the hundreds of student artwork exploring creative solutions for Land for Wildlife. All student work is on show in the hallway and also available to view online. Place your vote for the People's Choice. The award ceremony is invitation only from 12.45 - 1.45pm guests are to RSVP and check-in at the Auditorium.
COMMUNITY DISPLAY
In the Function Room you can find a cool space to relax surrounded by DADAA artworks, enjoy a drink from the bar and a Panchari Melam performance by Ganesha Samskruthi Vadya Kala Samithi.
PAPER MARBLING
Enjoy creating your own hand marbled paper. Take it home or add it to the sculptural habitat. Available from 11am - 2.30pm in the Classrooms.

Create a paper Sundew and add to the sculptural granite outcrop installation with Kaitlyn Elsegood and Leanne Bray. Available from 11am - 2.30pm in the Classrooms.

MAKE A BEE HOTEL
Learn about the importance of creating habitats for native species as environmentalist Cathy Levett shows you how to create a bee hotel to take home to add to your garden. Available from 11am - 2.30pm in the Meeting Room.

LAND FOR WILDLIFE DISCOVERY
Drop in to the Meeting Room from 11am - 2.30pm and discover what happens in the undergrowth. Draw live insects and learn about the importance of micro-environments, with displays from Darling Range Naturalist Club, Perth Wildlife Hospital and Zanthorrea.

Drop in and see ‘’What’s in Store’’, view MJAC’s stunning range of handmade wares and meet new retail supplier Josi Svendsen between 11am - 2pm as she demonstrates her painting techniques. Have a chat while she creates a painting of the endangered Red-Tailed Cockatoo.

Get to know the print studio as you print and add your artistic flair to your very own MJAC tote bag to take home. Available from 11am - 2.30pm.

Learn the art of throwing as you watch local ceramist Lee Woodcock create a form using the coil and throw method. Available from 11am - 2.30pm in the Ceramic Studio.

THE IMPORTANCE OF NATIVE GRASSES TALK
Join Una Bell, environmental artist and WA Herbarium Research Associate, as she discusses the importance of native grasses in the Swan Coastal Plain and Perth hills. Talk from 12.15 - 12.45pm in the Meeting Room.
