RACHELLE DUSTING
Rachelle Dusting explores the sacred and shifting terrains of identity, beauty and transformation through portraiture, figurative and still life work.
Dusting’s practice explores themes of identity, light, beauty and emotional resonance, often through the lenses of femininity, cultural inheritance and personal transformation. Sacred Ground represents a deeply personal and ambitious new chapter in her career. Through the lens of a woman approaching motherhood, her paintings meditate on the tension and tenderness of becoming. She depicts shifting terrains of beauty, reformation and change, utilising contemporary oil painting as a tool for reclaiming internal spaces of quiet conviction.
Her paintings draw on the domestic sphere, with still life, objects and interiors imbued with meaning and memory. Showing her concern for sustainability and stewardship, Dusting illustrates material and emotional inheritance through heirlooms, fruit and light-filled interiors, acting as visual devotions. Presented across internal, historical and symbolic terrains, the exhibition traces what is inherited, what is sacrificed and what grows in moments of transition.
