Toy Stories Artist & Curator Talk

  • Midland Junction Arts Centre 276 Great Eastern Highway Midland, WA, 6056 Australia (map)

Join Toy Stories curator and artist Sarah Toohey for a tour of the exhibition alongside artists Cecile Williams and Barry Tyrie. Cecile Williams will share her journey of working with an engineer to produce her work and Barry Tyrie will discuss his work Tambelling Town as well as his involvement with the Meccano Club. Don't miss this chance to hear these fascinating stories!

Toy Stories brings together artists, hobbyists, regional museums, and community groups in a showcase of contemporary and historic toys handmade in Western Australia from the early 1920s to today. The exhibition presents local craft, social history, contemporary art, and childhood experiences of past and present generations. It celebrates the imagination and creativity of hobbyist toymakers and professional artists alike; their optimism, humour, and unstoppable urge to play.
