Lino on Linen with Phoebe Todd-Parrish

Design, carve and print lino onto linen in this 2-part workshop with Phoebe Todd-Parrish. Phoebe will guide you through the process of designing your own fabric pattern, with tips and tricks on how to tessellate or space your chosen motifs. Participants can choose between a set of tea towels or cushion covers to work with in this workshop. Lino, cutting tools, ink and one set of linen is included in the cost of this workshop. Be sure to bring along some images or ideas for inspiration as well as any plain linen you would like to recycle. 

Participants are invited to exhibit their creations in the Made Here By Hand community exhibition in November.

Join artist Holly O’Meehan for a fun day of crochet. Holly will show the ropes of the method, teaching students how to crochet their own unique vessel out of t-shirt yarn and a variety of recycled fabrics. Crochet hooks and a range of coloured yarns are included in the cost of this workshop. Students can expect to make a pouch like basket and leave with a pattern to make many more at home.

Participants are invited to exhibit their creations in the Made Here By Hand community exhibition in November.

Kate Campbell-Pope will teach 3D fibre form construction inspired by the investigation of seeds, pods, and pollen, using natural fibres, threads and plant material, basketry and textiles construction techniques.

The often tiny and overlooked forms will be highlighted and celebrated in this process of learning and making.

Participants will be invited to return their creations for the community exhibition Seeds, Pods and Pollen at Mundaring Arts Centre 13 Sep - 27 Oct 2019.

Learn the age-old art of hand sewing leather in this six week Beginner’s Bag Making course with West Australian artist and designer Phoebe Tran. Be guided through the slow and methodical process once shared by all leather workers from the time before industrial mass production. 

This is a project based introductory class, suitable for all levels of sewing experience. The workshop fee includes a tool kit worth over $130. At the end of the course you will have completed a unique handmade leather bag and possess the basic tools and knowledge to sew (or repair) your own leather projects.
